Hi, Coach Brandy here. Somewhere inside you, there is a dream that refuses to let go. A quiet whisper from God reminding you that your life has purpose. This is You Have a Dream Living with Purpose podcast. Hi Peeps, Life Coach Brandy here. And on this episode of You Have a Dream Living with Purpose, we are going to talk about walking by faith when your feelings say otherwise. So I'm grateful that you're here today. And the episode is called Faith Over Feelings. That's like a whole sermon in itself. So feelings are so powerful, but they're not permanent. They can inspire you, distract you, or even deceive you. But faith keeps you anchored when your emotions shift. I think this is one of those lessons we have to keep relearning how to trust what we know over what we feel. So faith over feelings. Faith is a steadfast active trust anchored in unchanging truth, specifically God's word. Rather than um fluctuating emotions, moods, or even circumstance. I mean they change daily, right? While feelings are variable and sometimes deceitful, faith remains firm. Choosing to believe in God's promises even when his presence is not felt. So faith versus emotion. True faith is a decision, not a feeling. It acts on what is known, truth, rather than what is seen or felt. Variable emotions, um, these feelings change with circumstances, whereas God's word and character are consistent. His faithfulness is consistent. Anchored in truth, faith is based on reality of God's character, love, sovereignty, sovereignty, faithfulness, grace, rather than our emotional experiences. So and so our faith is actually an act of choice. Faith often moves first, and feelings of peace or confidence follow, rather than waiting for feelings to arrive before reacting or acting on our feelings. So a Bible verse that emphasizes walking by faith and not by sight is 2 Corinthians 5 7, and we will discuss that later. So um we will go over a couple of Bible verses later in the podcast. So because faith isn't based on mood, it's based on truth. Let's be honest, we all have days when faith feels far away, when we're tired, overwhelmed, disappointed, just burnt out. Emotions can whisper louder than promises of God. And sometimes we confuse emotional exhaustion with spiritual emptiness. When really, in reality, we just need rest, not retreat. Emotions are indicators, not dictators. They tell you how you feel, not who you are. And when life feels heavy, faith says, even now, God is still good. Good word. You know, God is still good. God is good all the time, all the time, God is good. Because walking by faith doesn't mean pretending everything's okay, it means believing God's still at work, even when it's not okay yet. So now we're gonna look at 2 Corinthians 5 7. For we walk by faith, not by sight. Sight represents what's visible. Feelings often reflect what's temporary, but faith focuses on what's eternal. And when you live by faith, you stop needing to understand everything to trust God with anything. Faith doesn't always explain, it sustains. You don't have to feel strong to stand firm. You just have to stay rooted. Stay rooted in your faith. And I want to say this to someone who's listening: your feelings are valid, they are valid, but they're not the verdict. God's promises still stand, even when your emotions don't. So I want to talk about three practical ways to live faith over feelings. When emotions rise, so this one is pause before you react, and we've discussed this a lot of times. Take a deep breath before you react. That way we don't say anything that we can't take back. So when emotions rise, give your moment, give yourself a moment to breathe, maybe even pray. Ask, is this how I feel? Or is this what's true? That pause gives faith a chance to speak before fear does. So pausing before reacting creates space to replace impulsive, regretful reactions with thoughtful, wise, and peaceful responses, effectively allowing faith to guide you. So now step two, feed your faith. Faith grows by what you feed it. If you focus on fear, your faith starves. If you focus on God's word, your faithfulness strengthens. So Romans ten seventeen says, Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. So feed your faith. Consume Scripture. Faith is strengthened by what it consumes, just as fear is fed by doubt. Pray actively instead of letting feelings drive your narrative. Bring them to God in prayer. So the next step is to speak what you seek. Your words can redect redirect your emotions, right? When doubt speaks, speak back. Say, I may not feel it, but I know God is with me. Faith is silence, isn't silence, it's a declaration. So your faith isn't silence. You've declared to live by faith, and you're going to be stronger and wiser when you lead by faith. So guiding your life with the unwavering truth of God's word, scripture, faith requires speaking in the line with God's word. So refusing to dwell on our verbalizing, disagreeing, discouraging circumstances, or listening to those negative thoughts in our head. Live by faith, acting on what God says, regardless of how you feel. Process for growth, trust in God. Stay at stop to pray. When emotions are getting the best of you, focus on your purpose. Pain is often a sign of growth. Growth is not always easy. Just remember to lean into faith. So remember when we were kids, and we would get those growing pains because we were growing, our bodies were growing. So as we grow as a human and learn, wisdom leads us to growth. As a person, it leads us to become what our life's purpose is as we grow. Sometimes it can be hard, sometimes you get discouraged. Go to God, say a prayer, go reach into scripture. You can always search up a good scripture to help you through that circumstance. Or you can always DM me or message me, and I'll be glad to share a verse that I use in my circumstances. So, and I always go to Psalm 23. The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. All through my podcast. So you can always go back and listen. And listen to that verse. Before we continue, it's time to take a dream moment. Take a breath for just a second. Think about the dream that's been placed in your heart. Maybe it's something big, maybe it's something quiet that only you and God know. But if that dream is still there, it's there for a reason. So keep walking in faith, keep taking the next step, and trust purpose grows one day at a time. Now, let's get back to the episode. So as we continue, I am going to continue this dream moment. I want to read Psalms 42 5 to you. Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why just so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior, and my God. David wrote this in a season of deep emotion, but even with sadness, he spoke faith. He didn't deny how he felt, but he redirected it toward God because it shows faith and feelings can coexist, but one has to lead. So faith doesn't erase your emotions. They're valid. It leads them home. It reminds you that your feelings might change daily, but God's presence is constant. Because even when we don't feel God, He still feels us. Our pain, our prayers, our purpose. And that's why we keep choosing faith one step at a time. So here's your challenge this week. When you notice your emotions leading the way, pause and pray this simple line. God, help me choose faith over feelings. Then take one step in faith, no matter how small. Send the message, forgive the person, try again, let obedience guide you, not emotion. And we'd love to hear from you. Share your story on how this episode spoke to your heart by emailing me at youhavadream.com or you may go on to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or even on the podcast, you can leave a review with a question. But if you want a private, you can always just email me, you have a dream.com. Your journey might inspire someone else who's walking through the same emotional storm. If you'd like to go deeper into building emotional and spiritual resilience, you can schedule a one-on-one coaching session with me at the same email or on my social medias. I'd love to walk beside you as you grow in faith. Because when you need faith consistently, feelings lose their power and peace takes over. Let's affirm this together. My faith is stronger than my feelings. I trust God's truth over my emotions. I walk by faith, not by sight. Say it again until it settles in your spirit. Because when faith leads, peace follows. Thank you for joining us again at You Have a Dream Living with Purpose, Season 5. Faith Over Feelings. Next week we'll build on the foundation with water, what you want to grow. Because in this season, we are building, we've planted a seed and we're going to continue to water it, feed it, excuse me, water and feed it as it grows. Because everybody needs water, care, love, scripture to continue to grow healthy. So purpose isn't perfect, it's always personal. I hope you have a wonderful week. Join me next week, and I am going to be praying for all of you. Have a great day, Life Coach Brandy out of here. Bye. Before we go, remember this. You have a dream, a dream that matters, a purpose that matters. And when you walk in faith and live with courage, that dream becomes a light for the world to see. Until next time, keep living with purpose. Be blessed.
