Hi, Coach Brandy here. Somewhere inside you, there is a dream that refuses to let go. The quiet whisper from God reminding you that your life has purpose. This is You Have a Dream Living with Purpose podcast. Hi peeps, I'm Love Catch Brandy, and this is You Have a Dream Living with Purpose. Today's episode is all about something the world needs more of. Joy. Not the kind that depends on circumstances, but the deep so-level joy that comes from gratitude, faith, and presence. Joy isn't just a feeling, it's a choice, a practice, and a gift we can give ourselves every day. Let's talk about how to live in joy right where you are. The gift of joyful living involves cultivating intentional habits that foster gratitude and presence, ultimately, shifting your focus from stressors to the beauty of the present moment. True joy is not dependent on circumstances, but on actively embracing ordinary pleasures and finding strength in purpose-driven living. Purpose-driven living. Exploring joy involves incorporating specific mindful practices, spiritual principles, and daily choices into your routine. To cultivate gratitude, acknowledge and appreciate the simple, ordinary things in your life to naturally enhance your daily happiness and shift your perspective. And deepen your presence. Say yes to life and focus on intentional engagement rather than living in resentment for what you feel is missing. Embrace empathy, step outside your own troubles by supporting and loving your neighbors, friends, and family, which often reveals unexpected purpose and delight. Practice mindfulness. Recognize that your external environment, such as burst of vibrant colors or small comforts in your home, this can be a renewable source of energy and inner peace. So joy is not something that we need to wait for. It's something you create, it's the way you show up for your life, your life. Show up. When you decide to notice beauty, to laugh more and appreciate small things, appreciate small things, you begin to live from abundance. And joy doesn't deny hard things, it redeems them. It says, even here there's still light. Joy and pain can go as it coexist, and that is what makes it holy. And whenever I said joy and pain, all I think about is Rob Bass, joy and pain. Joy as a spiritual practice is an intentional choice to connect with a deeper divine reality rather than a fleeting reaction to happy circumstances. It requires training your mind and your heart to recognize grace, beauty, and peace, even in the midst of life's inevitable challenges. The core pillars of spiritual joy is sacred presence. And with sacred presence, you awaken to the divine energy flowing through the present moment. Radical acceptance. And when you do radical acceptance, say yes to life as it is, releasing the suffering caused by resistance. And live by deep gratitude. Notice small, ordinary blessings as deliberate gifts from God. And then selfless service. Share your kindness with others, which shifts focus away from your personal anxieties. So, to practice cultivating your joy, start your day with and by setting your intentions and dedicating all actions to your purpose. You can practice mindful breathing. Inhale and exhale. You can do this seven to ten times or even five works. Read for ten minutes, absorbing uplifting spiritual text affirmations, or make sure you check in to Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok for our devotional, my devotionals, my thought for the day, sprinkle of joy, positive affirmation, and your affirmator daily. Nature walks, these always work. You observe the patterns of the earth to find joy in the beauty. Right? So there's joy in everything. So ask yourself, what simple things bring me joy? And do I give my permission myself permission to experience them? Give yourself permission to experience little joys. When we think of joy, and is when we think that joy is somewhere else, after success, after healing, after everything is fixed, we miss the joy that's right now. Joy isn't the next chapter. It's in this one, it's everywhere. Yes, it's in the laughter with your kids, the morning sunlight, your favorite song when it comes on the radio, a moment of prayer. God hides joy in the ordinary. We just have to slow down enough to see it. The practice of shifting your attention from major achievements, achievements, to the small unscripted moments of daily life. This requires slowing down your pace. Like slow your roll, guys. You need to notice and appreciate the subtle beauty that's all that already surrounds you. Like I said before, your children's laughter, the beauty of a sunrise or sunset. Oh my goodness. And music. Music always brings me joy. Listen to the radio, listen to the songs. Put on your favorite song that you have and just listen to it. Or even while you're in prayer. Here are a few shifts to find joy. Your sensory awareness. Engage your five senses fully in routine activities like washing dishes or drinking coffee. Drinking coffee, you're holding the cup, so there's touch. Smell it. There's your sense. Your nose, your smell. Taste. Enjoy the taste. That's your you know, taste. And then let's see. Listen, what are you hearing? What are you hearing? And then what are you seeing while you're drinking your morning cup of coffee? Or while you're washing the dishes. You feel the bubbles, you smell the soap, you're touching um the plates, they're soft and they're slippery, and the bubbles are just bubbly. And then um taste. What do you taste while you're doing dishes? What do you hear while you're doing the dishes? Or what do you see? Are you looking out the window and maybe a cardinal just flew by? Or maybe there's a bunny hopping around, and then micro gratitude. Acknowledge tiny specific comforts, such as the texture of a warm blanket or a green leaf or flower. Novelty in routine. So alter your routine, alter your habits slightly, like take a new walk on a different route. Or you can, if you go swimming, get in the other end of the pool, just change your routine just a little so you notice different things. Go a different way to work, go a different way to the store so you see different scenery and you can appreciate somebody's flowers, somebody has a beautiful statue in their yard, somebody's got a new American flag, so it's very pretty. Or hey, there's a marine flag, there's a VIP flag, so just watch for them. And then release of perfection. You guys know how I said we are perfectly imperfect, we don't need to perfect everything, accept the messy, incomplete, or quiet moments as valid and valuable parts of your day. Through the day, take a three-beth breath reset, take three deep breaths, focusing entirely on the physical sensation, and then remember your anchor. Take a moment of appreciation. Unplug. Dedicate 15 minutes of your evening to absolute silence, free from phones, TV, or music. Go take a bath, just enjoy it, take a bubble bath and just relax and step away from all the chaos that goes on in your life. Slow down deliberately. So choose one daily task like brushing your teeth and perform it at half your usual speed. So slow it down like slow your roll, guys. We need to slow our roll and appreciate the little things. Before we continue, it's time to take a dream moment. Take a breath for just a second. Think about the dream that's been placed in your heart. Maybe it's something big, maybe it's something quiet that only you and God know. But if that dream is still there, it's there for a reason. So keep walking in faith, keep taking the next step, and trust purpose grows one day at a time. Now, let's get back to the episode. Welcome back. Receiving joy is the vulnerable practice of allowing yourself to fully experience goodness, compliments, and pleasure without dismissing them, or waiting for the other shoe to drop. It requires softening your internal defenses and believing that you are inherently worthy of happiness right now, right here, exactly as you are. So let's do our guided reflection. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Think of a moment recently that made you smile, even a small one. Let the memory warm your heart warm your heart. Now whisper, joy is available to me right now. Feel the truth sink in. Joy is not something you earn, it's something you allow. Now let's discuss how to practice receiving. Savor the sensation. When a good moment happens, pause for 15 seconds to let the physical feeling settle into your body. And then make note of how that made you feel. Now we're gonna practice some naked gratitude. Let me explain, it's not anything yucky nasty. Accept a compliment or a gift with a simple, unqualified thank you rather than deflecting it. A lot of us tend to deflect compliments, but I want you to accept it and just say thank you. Lower your guard a bit. Notice when your mind creates an anxious what if scenario during a happy moment. Gently bring your focus back to the present. Claim rest as a right. Allow yourself to enjoy leisure time without trying to how much productivity you achieved earlier in the day. You've earned a right to rest. So let's grab our journals. Let's write. What moments this week made me smile or feel grateful? How can I invite more joy into my daily routine? What does joy, what does joyful living look like to me? Joy expands wherever you express it. The more you practice gratitude, laughter, and kindness, the more joy you'll find waiting for you. Write down one joy, joy moment a day. Something that lifted your spirit. The Bible does not treat joy as an option. Believers are commanded to rejoice always. First Theologians five, sixteen. Great theologian John Piper described Christians' joy as a spontaneous emotional response of the heart to the riches of Christ. Isn't that beautiful? So here is your affirmation of the week. Joy is my strength, my song, and my spiritual home. That is a deeply grounding and beautiful sentiment. It echoes the profound spiritual declaration that the Lord is our strength and that embracing his joy provides an unshakable foundation for our weary souls. Recently, there has been so much joy to feed off of. Each week as we realign our hearts, share uplifting stories, and live intentionally to fulfill our dreams and life's purpose.
